Hardtechno refiere a un estilo relativamente nuevo de Techno , que se desarrolló a partir de Schranz y Hardcore Techno . La primera más Techno producciones apareció alrededor de 1991 en sellos como PCP y Fuerza Industrial. Estos fueron referidos como Hardcore Techno . Con los años, el Hardcore escena cultiva un sonido nuevo lejos de su Techno origen, mientras que el Techno se fueron en una dirección más suave. A finales de los años 90, impulsado por el Schranzmovimiento, un nuevo y extremadamente duro estilo de Techno se hizo popular, que ahora se conoce generalmente como Hardtechno.
