German techno-magazine “Raveline” bankrupt
December 12. 2011
Germany’s last remaining, commercially available print-magazine for electronic music, “Raveline”, apparently comes to an end. According to an article by Berlin-based radio BLN.FM, the influential magazine’s publisher “A.E.C. Geronimo” went bankrupt as the German tax-office demands 800.000 Euros to be paid in taxes.
Raveline’s official webpage has been taken offline and its December-issue has not even been published anymore. The magazine released no statement regarding the publisher’s demise on Facebook, Twitter or anywhere else. The Raveline-team does currently not answer any calls, and no attempts have been made to tell paying magazine-subscribers why the latest issue has not been delivered until today.
According to BLN.FM’s report, attempts are made to save Germany’s biggest techno-magazine but until now it seems unclear whether another issue may be printed or not.
Since 1993, Raveline-magazine provided an insight into the German and international electronic music-scene and (though often biased) has been the most influential national periodical of its kind, covering many aspects of dance music from techno and house over more commercial styles such as trance and hardstyle and even less popular sub-styles like hardcore, hardtechno or drum’n'bass.
